Flanagan Building & Maintenance Ltd (The Company) recognises the legal obligations placed on it by the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 (HASAW) and of any other statutory provisions and health and safety regulations applying to its activities.
In issuing this policy, the Company recognises and fully accepts its responsibilities for health and safety, and in particular, with regard to:-
- The provision and maintenance of plant and systems of work that are safe and without risks to health.
- The maintenance of all work places in a condition that is safe and without risks to health, together with the provision and maintenance of safe means of access and egress.
- The safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, safe storage and transport of articles and substances.
- The provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure that work may be carried out safely and without risks to health.
- The provision and maintenance of a working environment that is safe, without risks to health and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for welfare at work
The Managing Director shall be responsible for safety, health and welfare with specific duties as set out in the policy documents. He shall ensure that the above provisions are fully understood and complied with and that the policy statement and all associated documents are reviewed annually and updated as necessary to incorporate legislative and operational changes.
The procedures incorporated in the policy are designed to achieve maximum control of risks by:
- The clear identification of individual responsibilities in respect of health and safety.
- A company training programme designed to ensure the competency of persons to adequately discharge those responsibilities
- Preparation of safety plans which identify the organisation and arrangements specific to each site or location
- The setting of safety objectives and standards and the monitoring of performances
- Auditing and review of performances
The Company Safety Advisor (PMG Consultancy Services) is a suitably qualified and experienced professional for the purposes of advising management on all matters relating to health safety and welfare, and for the monitoring of safety procedures and performance in accordance with the duties detailed in this policy.
The Company recognises the importance of joint consultation in both achieving and maintaining health and safety standards and, where appropriate, such consultation shall take place in accordance with the Health & Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996 and the Health and Safety Employee Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations 1997.
In addition to the specific duties outlined in this policy, every employee is reminded of their personal responsibilities under HASAW 1974, namely:
Procedures have been drawn up and approved as part of the arrangements for the implementation of this policy and are contained in the Company Health & Safety Manuals.
Copies of the relevant statutory provisions, health and safety guidance information and safety procedures are kept by the Company Safety Advisor and are available for inspection at any reasonable time.
Flanagan Building & Maintenance Ltd’s Policy for Health, Safety and Welfare at work has been developed by the Managing Director and PMG Consultancy Services in the interest of all employees, contractors, sub-contractors, clients and any other people associated with or affected by our operations.
The responsibilities for Health Safety and Welfare are set out in this Policy. The aims of the Policy are to prevent that all work related accidents and work related illnesses, personal injuries and damage to property.
The Company will, so far as is reasonably practicable, provide such information, training, instruction and supervision to ensure that the aims of the policy are achieved.
The Policy shall be reviewed annually and will be updated following any changes in our company in terms of growth, arrangements or work operations. The review of the Policy will take into account the details of the existing safety legislation in place at that time.
